What is Faculty and Staff giving?
Faculty and Staff giving is a campus-wide collaboration that provides current and emeriti faculty and staff an opportunity to directly impact the UCI community through their collective donations.
What is the time frame for Faculty and Staff giving?
Faculty and Staff can choose to support their priorities at any time during the year.
Any gift made to UCI from July 1 to June 30 will count as support for that fiscal year.
Why should I donate?
As an employee of UC Irvine, you have the unique opportunity to give back directly to the place where you work and help enact the changes you want to see on campus. UC Irvine is a non-profit institution that relies increasingly on private support as state support has decreased to a record low of 8.6%. We ask for contributions from alumni, friends, parents, students, faculty, staff, corporations, and foundations to keep a UC Irvine education affordable and to expand our research and teaching agenda.
What is the value of Faculty and Staff giving?
Together, your gifts help provide competitive financial aid opportunities for deserving students. Your gift sets an example for our alumni and students. In fact, many foundations and corporations evaluate faculty and staff giving as one component as they consider grant requests.
What if my spouse/partner works for a matching gift company?
If your spouse/partner works for a matching gift company, your gift may be doubled or even tripled. Please contact the Human Resources office for you or your company’s matching gift form. Then, just complete the form and enclose it when returning your contribution to UCI.
How does payroll deduction work?
Payroll deduction is one of the most convenient ways to make your gift. By completing a payroll deduction form, you can choose the amount to have automatically deducted from each paycheck. Your gift will be split over multiple pay periods, making it easy to give incrementally over time.
Are payroll deduction contributions deducted on a pre-tax basis?
No, payroll deduction gifts and pledges are deducted on an after-tax basis according to federal law. You can claim the tax deduction when you file your taxes annually.
May I designate my gift to any area of campus?
Yes, all gifts to UC Irvine are important and help improve the educational experience. The areas of undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships have been identified as priorities, but you may designate your gift to any school, department or academic program of your choosing.
