Campaign Highlights

Engineering Tower

The campaign has touched virtually every aspect of the campus, including:

  • Doubling the number of UCI's endowed chairs held by world-class faculty and researchers
  • Creating 200+ new student awards and 2,000+ new scholarships and fellowships
  • Establishing and naming new schools, facilities and programs
  • Enhancing alumni and student engagement and philanthropy with more than 87,000 individuals making a personal gift to the university during the campaign
  • Opening the UC Irvine Douglas Hospital and completing the $50 million hospital campaign
  • Dedicating the School of Medicine's new state-of-the-art medical education building, the Newkirk Alumni Center, the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute and Sue & Bill Gross Hall: A CIRM Institute
  • Setting historic annual fundraising records and significantly increasing the university's endowment
  • Strengthening connections to Orange County's business and community leaders through the University of California, Irvine Foundation and creation of the Institute for Innovation
  • Supporting campaign themes in the areas of health, energy and the environment, global cultures and economies, and frontiers of learning and the mind
