Alumnus Rudolph Baldoni, M.D. ’61 donates $750,000 in support of UCI’s cardiology and ophthalmology researchAugust 9, 2017
Rudolph Baldoni, M.D. ’61, a former anesthesiologist and recipient of the UCI 2009 Distinguished Alumnus Award, believes he has a moral obligation to help improve the quality of healthcare and medical education in the Orange County area.
Over the years, he has done just that by supporting UCI’s Douglas Hospital, Gavin Herbert Eye Institute and School of Medicine. Baldoni also showed his appreciation for the training that launched his career by establishing two endowment funds through a charitable remainder trust to support research within the School of Medicine.
Half of the gift will be used to establish the “Rudolph C. and Dorothy Baldoni Endowment for Cardiology Research” fund in honor of Dr. Byron Allen and his research initiatives, while the remaining half will establish the “Rudolph C. and Dorothy Baldoni Endowment for Ophthalmology Research” at the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute in honor of Dr. Marjan Farid and her research initiatives.
